ICT Project Surge Capability and Operational Support

Situation

Holan established a trusted relationship with a Commonwealth agency through the successful delivery of workforce planning, business planning and organisational support initiatives across multiple business areas. Through this work, we developed a detailed understanding of the organisation's operating environment, governance arrangements and operational priorities.

Building on this relationship, Holan was engaged to provide short-term surge capability to support a pilot project for the implementation of a new Work Health and Safety (WHS) reporting application.

The agency required an experienced project support professional who could rapidly integrate into the team and provide project coordination, ICT system administration, stakeholder engagement and operational support, enabling the pilot to be delivered without diverting internal resources from business-as-usual priorities.

Holan's Response

At short notice, Holan deployed a specialist project support resource for a seven-month engagement. The resource quickly integrated into the agency and provided end-to-end support across project delivery, ICT administration, stakeholder engagement and governance.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Project delivery and governance – Coordinating implementation activities, managing project risks, preparing governance documentation and supporting procurement activities.
  • ICT system administration – Configuring the WHS platform, managing users and permissions, operating the help desk, resolving incidents and supporting system testing prior to rollout.
  • Stakeholder engagement and user adoption – Delivering user training, facilitating support sessions and developing guidance materials to support successful implementation.
  • Reporting and continuous improvement – Producing operational reports and dashboards, analysing system usage and providing recommendations to inform future decision-making.

Outcome

Holan successfully provided the surge capability required to implement and support the WHS pilot while enabling the agency to maintain focus on its core responsibilities. The resource integrated rapidly into the organisation, established trusted stakeholder relationships and became an embedded member of the delivery team.
